ILLUMINATIONS FREO FAMILY SLIDE NIGHT & FILMIC ANIMATIONS Illuminations is a slide and film project which captures aspects of life in Fremantle. From the extraordinary built environment in all its after-dark mystery to the intimacy of the family table, this project sheds light on the public and private life of one of Australia’s most distinctive communities. Combining the artists’ take on the heritage urban landscape with the community members’ images of personal moments lived in that landscape, the two elements of this project encourage viewers to reflect on the public and private experience of place. Inspired by the first moment of electrical power in Fremantle in 1905, film sequences from 2005 will be presented as a montage to illuminate the history and electrical path of Fremantle. Artists: Janine Boreland, Sarah Wilkinson, Rodney Stratton & Oliver McPherson work together to celebrate, through public illuminations throughout the festival, Fremantle’s connection to it’s community during the 100 anniversary of Fremantle Festival.
